幼少期からクラシックピアノを習い、音楽の基礎を学ぶ。 14歳でギターに出会い、わずか3ヶ月後には路上ライブを開始。 その時に出会ったホームレスの男性からブルースを学んだ経験は、TAICHIの音楽の原点となった。 20歳の時、日本を徒歩で一周。自然のリズムと共に歩いた日々は、現在の創作活動の根幹に息づいている。
20代で介護施設の施設長に就任。音楽活動を一時休止し、 人の生と死の物語に深く向き合う時間を過ごした。
2018年、音楽活動を本格的に再開。以降、多くの楽曲を発表。 名古屋 CLUB QUATTRO(ソールドアウト)やダイアモンドホールでのワンマンライブをはじめ、 精力的にライブ活動を展開した。
2023年、総合プロデュースに保本真吾氏を迎え、国内外の著名アーティストと共演。
同年、インストEP『SAMURAI GUITARIST』をリリース。 東京でのワンマンライブをソールドアウトさせ、ロンドンやリトアニアでのライブ・フェス出演を果たす。 現地アーティストと楽曲制作を行い、国際的な音楽交流を広げた。
2024年、アーティスト名を坂上太一から「国頭太一 Kunigami Taichi」に改名。 新月に音楽アルバム、満月に短編映画を発表する「新月満月プロジェクト」を始動。 2025年、音楽・ストーリーテリング・AIを融合させた総合アートシリーズ『Map of Time』を展開。 作品はアメリカやヨーロッパの国際映画祭で高く評価され、多くの受賞を重ねている。

Taichi began studying classical piano in his childhood, building a foundation in music. At the age of 14, he discovered the guitar and within just three months was performing on the streets. There, he learned the blues from a homeless musician — an experience that became the origin of his musical journey. At 20, he walked across Japan entirely on foot. Those days spent in harmony with the rhythms of nature continue to form the core of his creative vision.
In his twenties, he became the director of a care facility, pausing his musical career to spend time deeply engaged with the stories of life and death.
In 2018, Taichi fully returned to music and has since released numerous works. He headlined sold-out solo concerts at venues such as Nagoya CLUB QUATTRO and Diamond Hall, and continued to expand his live performances energetically.
In 2023, under the overall production of Shingo Yasumoto, he collaborated with renowned artists in Japan and abroad.
That same year, he released the instrumental EP SAMURAI GUITARIST. The Tokyo release concert sold out, followed by performances at festivals in London and Lithuania. He also engaged in songwriting and production with local artists, expanding his international collaborations.
In 2024, he changed his artist name from Taichi Sakagami to Taichi Kunigami and launched the New Moon / Full Moon Project, releasing a new album on each new moon and a short film on every full moon. In 2025, he continues to develop the multidisciplinary art series Map of Time, blending music, storytelling, and AI. The works have been recognized at international film festivals across the United States and Europe, earning multiple awards.
